Plaza Mayor Y Casa de la Panadería
The history of the most popular square in Madrid dates back to the 16th century. In 1590, construction began on the Casa de la Panadería, which was the first building in the new square. Its facade was decorated with frescoes from the beginning. During the last major restoration of the building in the early 1990s, the damaged plaster was renewed and the facade was decorated with the current mural of mythological figures by Madrid artist Carlos Franco, using KEIM decorative paints.
