Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is located in the heart of Milan, between Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Scala. Opened in 1867, it is one of the oldest shopping centres in the world. The impressive neo-Renaissance architecture is characterised by a glass dome and a magnificent steel frame that spans the elegant shopping arcades. Mosaics and elaborate decorations adorn the floor, while the cross vaulting creates a harmonious combination of classicism and modernity. The Galleria is a popular meeting place and a landmark of Milan.
