Carl Wooden Hybrid High-rise Building
CARL in Pforzheim is currently the tallest timber hybrid high-rise building in southern Germany. The 14-storey building represents a successful combination of sustainable construction, well-thought-out design and clear architecture. The project also uses wood as a durable, natural material for the facade design. KEIM Lignosil-Verano, a silicate greying glaze that gives the wood an even, pre-greyed appearance at the factory, was used. It provides the wood cladding with lasting protection against the effects of weathering and prevents irregular discolouration due to varying weather conditions.
